Telefunken 201M microphone, manufacturer's frequency response curve. This was used for most of the Mercury Living Presence recordings. (Manufactured by Schoepes.)

Telefunken U-47M microphone, manufacturer's frequency response curve. This was used on some early Mercury Living Presence recordings. Sometimes as the left and right feeds, with a 201M as the center feed. (Manufactured by Neumann.)

Source of the above: a Telefunken brochure from about 1953 or so.

Neumann M-50 microphone, manufacturer's frequency response curve. This was used on many RCA Victor Living Stereo recordings and remains the favorite microphone of Tony Faulkner today.


Mackie HR624 Studio Monitor — anechoic frequency response. That's flat +/- 1.5-db!
